Royal Airforce Officers Sword
Designed by Wilkinson sword and adopted by the Air Ministry
in 1925.The sword has a single-edged straight carbon steel blade.
The hilt is stamped in brass
with a cartouche bearing the emblem of the RAF, the brass pommel
is in the form of an eagle and both are 22ct gold plated. The
white fish skin grip is bound in gold plated wire.
The scabbard is made of rawhide with 22ct gold plated mounts.
Officers of Air Rank and above carry a more ornate version featuring
finely engraved mounts. |
